Pool Time!

Memorial Day Weekend means one thing to our kids... the pool opens! This weekend was unseasonably warm and nice, as far as Memorial Day Weekends go. The water was freezing but hey, I didn't have to go in it so all I cared about was sunshine and a nice breeze and I got both! The kids were fishes in the pool and monkeys on the jungle gym and for the first time ever, didn't need me or hang on me because they had their own friends there. The downside of that was that Katie DID need me so I still haven't had a chance to sit on a lounge chair and admire my kids from afar. One of these days...

Posing in their new swimsuits

Emma sporting her new pool gear, courtesy of Uncle Mike & Aunt Loretta for her birthday. She wore the flippers too - she was quite a sight!

Katie in her adorable new suit... she didn't get wet this time but I thought it was appropriate for her to wear it the first day... and before she grows out of it!

Baseball Randomness

It's been quite a baseball season, with most of it being rained out and numerous make-ups being scheduled. Aside from rain, the weather has also been tricky in that last week Ryan had to wear Under Armour to his games, it was so cold, and the parents were shivering and layering in blankets. Days later we were sweating and trying to avoid a nasty sunburn. So with Mother Nature's trickery, and a baby who's been sick and miserable, I haven't had much opportunity to get action shots. And when I finally got out there, I realized that a super zoom lens will be on this years Santa list!

Skate Camp

So I was either drunk, pill popping or sleep deprived when I signed Ryan up for Skate Camp this summer. I mean, the boy hurts himself pretty much on a daily basis, do I really need to add a half pipe and rails to the mix? Regardless, he is pretty jazzed about it and I think not only will he have a great time, I'm pretty sure he'll do great as well. He's pretty athletic no matter what he tries and he doesn't have much fear & he'll bust his butt (literally) to not only do it, but do it well. I'm thinking just to be safe, I'll be buying him new pads and a new helmet, and probably taking him to the skate shop to look at new boards. Here's a preview of my little skate rat going down our driveway...those of you who have been here know it's a steeper hill than it looks!

I want my baby back, baby back, baby back...

... and I'm not talking about ribs. I mean I.want.my.baby.back. My sweet, quiet, back-sleeping (or any sleeping) baby. The one who was my golden child...until she got sick and spent a week in the hospital, wired up and pumped full of stomach wrenching antibiotics. She went in a calm, happy-go-lucky baby who slept on her back (and actually put herself to sleep), did great on Enfamil and showed no outward signs of any distress. She came out raising hell with an insatiable appetite, a scream that could peel the paint off walls, and a future that had reflux and colic written all over it! We've run the gamete through formulas... Enfamil Lipil - Gentlease - Good Start = Nutramigen. She's on not 1, but 2 - count them, TWO - reflux medicines. And probably the worst of it all, she has so much gas and acid reflux, that she is always in distress. She doesn't sleep - she cries. And after many hours of being an infant and not sleeping, she is majorly overtired. And that, my friends, means more crying. Screaming actually. So if you are wondering where I have been, it's pacing the floors with a baby who screams all day. If you are wondering why I haven't posted any pictures, I'm waiting for her to stop crying and start smiling long enough to get one. If you are wondering where your thank you note is, I promise you will see it at some point. If you have any interest in babysitting, you know where we live!
