Move Over Frank Perdue...

... there's a new chicken in town!

This past weekend Emma had her 1st dance recital. She was so excited and couldn't wait for the day to finally come. During dress rehearsal she was more concerned with her friend who was crying than actually paying attention and dancing. So we had a chat - Emma needs only to worry about Emma. We reminded her often and when the time finally came for her big number, she did pretty good. But a fellow dancer was in distress and couldn't find her tail feathers (to shake, of course) and you could see Emma just wanting to go help her but remembering her mantra "worry only about Emma."

If you ask her how it went, she talks about the finale. I think it was her favorite part even tho she only walked on stage. But I think that being with all the big kids and the other dancers made her day. After the finale, her teacher addressed the crowd and presented a few kids with awards. Our Prima Ballerina was honored to receive an Achievement Award and to see her strut across the stage in front of everyone to receive it was the highlight of the recital for this proud mama.

Getting ready to leave - the hottest day ever! So much for the curling iron... again!

Emma spent the entire time in the kids room and was thrilled to meet two of her favorite Princesses, Snow White and Cinderella. Does this count as a trip to Disney? I feel like it cost the same!

Posing after with her flowers and her dance medal.

Emma and her grandparents... who drove far, in hot cars, and sat through 2.5 hours of dance just to watch her shine for 2 minutes. Now that's love!!
